Looking for new opportunities? Do you want to be part of one of the fastest growing job sectors in Florida? The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the web development field will experience a 20 percent growth rate through 2022. "Web Developer" is the skill most in demand by Florida employers according to Burning Glass Technologies, which specializes in job market analytics. In response to the great demand for web development skills in Florida, UCF launched the UCF Coding Boot Camp in March 2016.
The UCF Coding Boot Camp is a 24-week certificate program offered by UCF's Division of Continuing Education. The program is open to the general public and combines evening and weekend classroom sessions with online work.
Since our launch in 2016 we have enrolled more than 300 students into the program including students enrolled for future start dates in 2017. Our first program cohorts boasted over 100 graduates between September and December 2016. These students successfully completed the program and have gained access to a large network of employers looking to hire UCF Coding Boot Camp Graduates.
As a part of the program students build a portfolio of web applications to showcase their knowledge, skills and products and are given the opportunity to participate in experiential learning opportunities with employers.
The boot camp will also offer career coaching, portfolio review, demo days and recruitment support. The new coding program does not require previous computer programming experience or training. Students may qualify for federal education loans, workforce development grants and other education funding up to the full cost of registration. For qualified applicants, the approval process can be completed online and typically takes less than 15 minutes. UCF alumni are eligible for special pricing.
