Certificate Program in Event Management (Non-Credit)
As a leader in undergraduate education in event management, the Rosen College of Hospitality Management has created a Certificate Program in Event Management designed for working professionals as well as those desiring to enter this exciting industry.
The target audience for this program includes:
- Meeting, event, and training planners, coordinators and assistants
- Conference and convention service managers and coordinators
- Directors of special events
- Nonprofit organization staff that plan events
- Administrative assistants with responsibilities for meetings and events
- Experienced professionals who want to keep abreast of the latest trends and knowledge
The curriculum involves:
- Foundations: Event types, event producers, steps in event management
- Event design and production
- Event technology
- Contracts, negotiations, risk management, legal issues
- Event promotion
- Professional development, starting your own business

The program is delivered in module format with one module a month for six months. The first and last modules meet on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Module 2 meets Friday and Saturday. Modules 3 – 5 meet on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and require additional work via the internet. Breaks and lunches are provided on all class days.
This program counts towards the education hours needed to sit for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation of the Convention Industry Council. It should also fulfill the education requirements for the Certified Special Event Professional (CSEP) offered by the International Special Event Society.
Registration:
Enrollment is limited to 25 participants. The cost is $2,000 for the program. Students must attend all modules to earn the Certificate in Event Management.
Payment Plan:
We are offering the option to split the payment for this course into four separate payments. We require you to fax in a signed Automatic Payment deduction form (.pdf) at the time of registration. Your credit card will be charged on the dates specified on the payment plan. Registration with the payment plan must be done over the phone or fax as our online system is only set up to take full payment at the time of registration.
