The State of Florida requires that health care facilities providing inpatient and other complex medical/surgical services employ a licensed Healthcare Risk Manager. The 120-hour Risk Management Licensing course offered by UCF is in its 22nd year of continuous operation and is approved by the Agency for Health Care Administration of the State of Florida.
The twelve course modules comprising the program are taught by experts in their respective fields, including educators, attorneys, and risk management practitioners. The media through which the program is offered includes lectures, case studies, role playing and videos. Participants who complete the course are prepared to take the licensing exam that is offered at the end of the course and as part of the program.
Licensing also depends on additional eligibility requirements as determined by the State. The course focuses on clinical and administrative risks with a particular emphasis on insurance requirements.
The Health Care Risk Management Licensure Program will be offered entirely on-line. This means that each student can start at any time and work at their own speed to complete the ten modules comprising the program. The only binding stipulation is that each student will have up to a ten month period in which to complete the program of study.
The program is online and self paced and participants can register anytime and complete within ten months. To learn more about the program, start dates and registration, please contact sfaehnle@ucf.edu.
