Tuition for the Institute is $600 per workshop, which includes a $50 non-refundable registration fee. Please be sure to check the scholarship eligibility requirements before registering at the scholarship fee. Your $50 payment will not be refunded if you register at that rate but are not on the list of eligible schools to receive a scholarship.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition for the Institute is $600 per workshop, which includes a $50 non-refundable registration fee. The registration fee is required at the time of registration. Tuition for the Institute includes orientation, cost of instruction, all AP packets and materials and lunch on Monday, June 25th and Friday, June 29th, 2012.

 

Credit and Times

Each participant will receive a certificate of participation for 45 contact hours of instruction. Registration for the AP Summer Institute implies agreement to attend all class sessions for the full meeting time. Classes will meet 8:30am-4:30pm Monday - Thursday and 8:30am-2:00pm on Friday.

 

Program Changes

We will make every effort to maintain the published schedule of workshops, however we reserve the right to make any necessary changes. If a workshop is canceled, all participants will be notified immediately and will be given the opportunity to transfer to an open workshop or receive a full refund.

 

Cancellations and Refunds

The $50 registration fee is non-refundable. Participants unable to attend must notify the UCF APSI Registration Director by emailing dcereg@ucf.edu. Notification must be made 2 weeks prior to the Institute start in order to receive a refund of tuition. No telephone cancellations will be accepted. School systems may substitute a paid participant with another teacher in the same course. Schools or individuals will be billed the full amount if a registered participant does not show, including those covered by one of our scholarships.

 

Clothing and Climate

It is recommended that you wear lightweight, casual clothing and bring an umbrella, since Orlando daytime highs can be in the upper 90’s and it will be rainy season. All classroom facilities are air conditioned and kept quite chilly so you may want to also bring a sweater or jacket.

 

Check-In

Check-in will take place Monday, June 25th from 7:30-8:30am. Please arrive on time. The location for check-in will be announced at a later date.

 

Parking

All registered and paid participants will receive a confirmation packet 1-2 weeks prior to the Institute. The packet will include a parking pass for the first day of the Institute should you need it. Anyone driving to the Institute and parking on campus is required to have a parking pass displayed on their rearview mirror. Please be sure to park in designated student lots and scratch off the date each morning to validate the pass. Additional passes for the other 4 days of the Institute will be handed out at check-in to those who need them. You will need to use one pass per day.

 


 

Frequently Asked Questions

 

What all is covered in the registration fee? The Institute registration fee of $590 covers the cost of the institute, instruction, AP materials from the College Board, parking, and lunch on Monday and Friday. In addition, the faculty will provide pre- and post-testing to satisfy state TEC credit requirements. At the end of the institute, each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion.

 

How do I know whether I am registered for the Institute? Upon completing the Institute registration online, you will receive an email confirming the registration and payment of the $50 nonrefundable deposit. If you are applying for a Florida Partner scholarship, we will need your signed scholarship application as well. All participants should receive a confirmation packet in the mail 1-2 weeks prior to the Institute. If you applied for a Florida Partner scholarship, you will receive a letter confirming the scholarship in your confirmation packet.

 

What is the schedule for the Institute? The 2012 Institute is scheduled for June 25-June 29, 2012. Classes will meet 8:30am-4:30pm Monday - Thursday and 8:30am-2:00pm on Friday. Classes will break for an hour lunch around approximately 12:00 each afternoon.

 

Is Housing available on campus? Unfortunately, there is no housing available on campus. We have a room block at the Holiday Inn. Please go to http://www.ce.ucf.edu/ap/accommodations.asp for hotel information.

 

What meals are included in the tuition? Lunch will be provided on Monday, June 25th and Friday, June 29th. Lunch is on your own the rest of the week. The Student Union, located in the central part of campus offers many options for food including Qdoba Mexican Grill, Burger King, Sbarro, Steak Escape, Wackadoo’s and Subway.

 

How do you determine who is awarded a Florida Partner scholarship? Due to changes in the Florida Partnership program, only participants from designated schools will be eligible to receive scholarships to attend the AP Summer Institute. What do I need to bring with me to the Institute? You will be contacted by your course consultant if you need to bring anything specific for your course (or check the course description). All participants should come prepared with something to write with, a copy of the textbook they are currently using and any plans, projects or ideas that they use in the classroom and would like to share with other participants. Participants should also consider bringing a jacket or sweater as the air conditioning can leave the classrooms very chilly.
