Health Care Risk Management Certificate

Description

Online and self-paced. Enroll any time and complete within one year.

Presented by UCF Continuing Education and UCF College of Community Innovation and Education

The Risk Management Certificate Program at UCF has continuously operated since 1987 with AHCA approval. The eleven course modules are taught by experts in their respective fields, including educators, attorneys, and risk management practitioners. The media through which the program is offered includes lectures, case studies, role playing and videos. The course focuses on clinical and administrative risks with a particular emphasis on Florida Risk Management statutes. The curriculum aligns with the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management (FSHRMPS) professional development framework.

The Health Care Risk Management Certificate Program is offered entirely online. This means that each student can start at any time and work at their own speed to complete the eleven modules comprising the program. Each student will have up to a one year period in which to complete the program of study.

You only need to elect to pay the CEU fee of $30.00, at the time of registration if you want to receive CEUs for the Online Health Care Risk Management Licensure Course.

Discontinuation of the Health Care Risk Manager Licensure Program

Several changes were made to Chapter 395, Florida Statutes during the 2018 Florida legislative session, including the repeal of the Agency's authority to license Health Care Risk Managers. The Agency will cease processing applications for a Health Care Risk Manager license effective July 1, 2018.

Hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers (ASC) must continue to have a risk management program, and they must have a qualified risk manager to oversee the program. It will be the responsibility of their governing boards to hire a risk manager based on education and experience requirements.

Participants must complete the 80 hour self-paced program within a 1 year period.

If you are interested in pursuing this course for elective credit within the MS-HSA program, you will need to first speak with your college advisor to seek approval to enroll. Upon receiving approval, you will need to enroll in the HSA 5509 course through your MyUCF portal and pay tuition fees. Additionally, you will need to contact UCF Continuing Education to enroll in the Online Health Care Risk Management course, and pay the $895.00 registration fee. This can be done online at https://www.ce.ucf.edu/RiskManagement or by calling 407-882-0260. To receive college credit, you must be enrolled and submit payment to both entities. Failure to pay fees to Continuing Education, or set up a payment plan, will jeopardize your enrollment in the MS-HSA Program, including dismissal.

These are exceptional teachers and I am grateful for the experience to learn from them.
