Strategies to Support Social-Emotional Learning   

This course will provide you with an overview of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and teach you specific tools and strategies to integrate SEL best practices into any classroom.


This teacher professional development course will teach you the five components of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and how to support students using a variety of social-emotional learning activities and strategies. You will learn about self-connections within SEL and how to teach self-awareness, self-management, and responsible decision-making. You will also learn about how to teach students to make connections with others. You will end the course with a completed SEL plan you created and utilize the graphic organizers and various resources provided to support your students in the classroom.


Requirements:

Hardware Requirements:

  • This course can be taken on either a PC, Mac, or Chromebook.

Software Requirements:

  • PC: Windows 10 or later.
  • Mac: macOS 12 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox is preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.
  • Microsoft Word Online
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.

Other:

  • Email capabilities and access to a personal email account.
  • Editing of a Microsoft Word document is required in this course. You may use a free version of Microsoft Word Online, or Google Docs if you do not have Microsoft Office installed on your computer. Model Teaching can provide support for this.

    1. Get ideas on how to implement the concepts into your classroom, find a list of online resources that introduce various SEL strategies, and read the research behind supporting students' SEL in the classroom
